Preakness Stakes Odds & Money

December 1, 2010 By Smith

Preakness Stakes

Preakness Stakes odds give you a lot of choices and you want to manage your money successfully. There are various options to consider in Preakness Stakes betting so managing your money is important.

Preakness Stakes odds have to begin with the favorite. Oftentimes in horse racing you want to avoid taking the favorite but not in the Preakness.  The favorite wins almost half the time so you must allocate money to include the favorite. That doesn’t mean you have to risk everything on the favorite but you probably should include him in your exotic tickets and have some money on him in some way.

You have a lot of choices so you really want to have enough money to wager on different things.   This may include the normal win, place and show options in Preakness Stakes odds but it should also include exotics.  You may even want to plan out your money so you can bet threes and the pick four when you bet the Preakness. Playing the Pick Six is also possible but it can be costly if you pick a lot of horses.

You really need a plan of attack in Preakness Stakes betting. If you are going to bet a variety of things in the Preakness you must set out money for each one.  Going overboard and losing everything before the race even starts or betting everything in the Preakness is poor money management.  You still want to have a bankroll after the race is over.  You also want to realize that if you are playing pick three, pick four or pick six tickets you are going to need some money. You will need to have enough money to box horses and key horses on these tickets if you expect to win.  That means you must allocate your money properly and have enough of a bankroll to play the different exotics.

Money management is important in all forms of betting including the Preakness.  You must have a solid money management strategy.  Make a plan and get your money ready.  If you can do that in advance you will have a better chance of winning when you actually bet the Preakness. Don’t wait until Saturday, May 16th to plan your Preakness bankroll. Decide in advance what you want to do with your money management so you are well prepared to bet the second race in horse racing’s Triple Crown.
