Cavaliers and Spurs Highlight Friday Basketball Betting

Basketball betting on Friday includes an excellent matchup in San Antonio as the Spurs host the Cleveland Cavaliers.

When these two teams meet the games are usually close, especially in San Antonio.  Here is a look at some of the numbers and trends in NBA betting for this game.

Basketball betting trends are split between the two teams in this game. They have split their last five games both straight up and against the NBA betting point spread.  The teams played earlier this month in Cleveland and it was an excellent game that the Cavaliers just pulled out 97-95.  The last time they met in San Antonio the Cavaliers won 97-86.  The teams have split their last four meetings in San Antonio.  In this series, five of the last seven games have gone under the total in basketball betting.

It should be noted that LeBron James did not play in the game earlier this month.  Mo Williams had a near triple-double with 17 points eight rebounds and eight assists. Delonte West had 16 points, five assists, four rebounds and a season-high tying three steals. Manu Ginobili scored 23 of his 38 points in the first half. George Hill added 23 points.

Cleveland has been a better team vs. the point spread on the road than at home.  The Cavaliers are oftentimes overvalued at home but on the road they laying fewer points and are a better deal.  Cleveland has a very good defense and they have LeBron James.  This season the Cavaliers also have other players like Mo Williams and Antawn Jamison who can provide support.

It was thought that the Spurs would collapse without Tony Parker who is injured but that has not happened. In fact, the Spurs have actually played pretty well since Parker got hurt. The Spurs still play good defense as they are 8th in the league.  They can struggle to score points sometimes but Manu Ginobili has really picked up his play.  San Antonio is going to make the playoffs and they have been able to hold their own even without Parker in the lineup. Tim Duncan still leads the Spurs in scoring this season but whether the Spurs win or not is usually dependent upon Ginobili or someone else providing scoring support.  It was supposed to be Richard Jefferson providing support this season but he has done very little.
