The Twins signed veteran slugger Jim Thome while the Twins picked up Xavier Nady. Both players could prove to be important to the Twins and Cubs in baseball betting.
Baseball bet is always popular on the Twins and Cubs. They are two teams that get a lot of attention even though they are not in large markets. The Twins have had a lot of success in the past decade while the Cubs have mainly been a baseball betting disappointment.
Thome joins the Twins to possibly take over the DH role. He was talking with the White Sox about returning to Chicago but manager Ozzie Guillen told Thome that he couldn’t promise him enough at-bats. “I play him once a week or twice a week. I don’t think it was fair for him,” Guillen said. Thome still has some power. He has 564 career homers, including 134 in three years with Chicago. He hit 23 a year ago for Chicago as baseball bet stats showed. He was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers late in the season and went 4 for 17 in 17 games.
The other baseball bet move had the Cubs agreeing with Xavier Nady on a one-year deal worth $3.3 million plus performance bonuses. Nady is coming off Tommy John surgery but is said to be doing well. He hit .305 with 25 home runs and 97 RBIs for the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees two years ago. Nady has done very well against right handed pitching in his career as he hit .317 against right-handers in 2008 and .262 against lefties. In the past three baseball bet years, Nady is hitting .297 against right handed pitching. The Cubs need all the help they can get and Nady is an excellent addition. He could step right into the outfield and start or he could end up in a platoon situation.
The Cubs always are a popular choice in baseball bet futures. They are 18-1 in baseball betting to win the World Series in 2010. The Twins are actually a longer choice in baseball betting odds as they are listed at 25-1. The Cubs always attract attention from those making a baseball bet even if they don’t have a very good chance to win it all. Everyone simply loves the Cubs when they make a baseball betting wager.
