Pitchers You Want in Baseball Betting

Baseball betting is oftentimes all about pitching. The oddsmakers make their lines based on the starting pitchers and very little else.

What pitchers do you want to take in MLB betting and which ones should you avoid?

Baseball betting last season had the two most profitable pitchers being Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners and the Angels’ Matt Palmer.  You probably have heard of Fernandez but Palmer sure went under the radar in MLB betting.  There are definitely some baseball fans that have heard of Matt Palmer but what about J.D. Martin of the Washington Nationals?  Have you heard of him?  He was the third most profitable pitcher last season in MLB betting.

Sometimes in baseball betting you can take big name pitchers and make money but not always.  Two big name pitchers that did well last year were Jon Lester and Josh Beckett who were the fourth and fifth best starters last season in baseball betting.  Kevin Correia was sixth while Scott Feldman was seventh.  Braden Looper was in eighth place, Clayton Richard was ninth and Joe Saunders was the 10th most profitable pitcher in baseball betting in 2009.

While those ten pitchers did well there were a lot of pitchers that cost you money in baseball betting last season.  Some of them might even be a surprise to you.  The number one loser last season in terms of baseball betting was Felipe Paulino of the Houston Astros.  The second biggest money burner was the Phillies’ Cole Hamels.  Yes, Hamels was a disaster last year for those who bet on baseball.  Do you remember Cliff Lee and how great he was for the Phillies last season?  What you might have forgotten is that he was not very good for Cleveland.  In fact, he was the third biggest money loser last season while pitching for the Indians.  He was followed by Kyle Lohse, Zach Duke, Ryan Dempster, Jason Berken, Kevin Hart, David Hernandez, Yusmeiro Petit and Daniel Cabrera.  Those were the top ten losers for those involved in MLB betting last season.

When you bet on baseball you really need to be aware of which pitchers win money for you and which ones lose money.  The lists above have the top ten money winners and the top ten money losers. You may want to pay attention to these pitchers this season in MLB betting.
