Texas Tech Hires Tuberville as Head Coach Sportsbook

Texas Tech Hires Tuberville as Head Coach Sportsbook. Sportsbook action plays out in strange ways and often it’s the offseason moves rather than any events in competition that shape the sports book outcomes.

Sportsbook had Texas Tech not wasting any time in finding a new coach for the fired Mike Leach. The Red Raiders hired former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville on Saturday.  Offshore sportsbook numbers had the deal being for five years for about $2 million per season.Sportsbook success on Texas had been pretty good on Texas Tech in recent seasons with Mike Leach.  That success was less this sportsbook year but Leach was fired for other reasons that related to things off-the-field. Getting Tuberville should help calm things down at the university.  Many of the fans of Texas were upset at Leach’s firing as offshore sportsbook noted, so getting a big name coach should get things back on track.

Tuberville said to ESPN that he is looking forward to getting back into coaching.  “After 25 years of coaching you need to recharge your batteries,” he said about taking a year off. “Last year being out was great for me. I’m fired up, looking forward to it.”  Texas dominated the sportsbook news recently with the controversy regarding Leach and his treatment of player Adam James.  Now Texas Tech can put that news behind them and look forward to a successful 2010 college football sportsbook year.

Sportsbook stats saw Tuberville struggle with Auburn in 2008 as his team went 5-7 but overall Tuberville’s record is good.  In 2004 he led the Tigers to a 13-0 season.  He averaged over eight wins per offshore sportsbook college football season in his 10 years and led Auburn to eight bowl games in a row.  Offshore sportsbook stats had him 85-40 at Auburn.

Texas has had an explosive offense in recent sportsbook seasons under Mike Leach and Tuberville has said he is not going to change the offense.  He did say he hopes to improve a defense that has been notoriously weak as sportsbook stats showed. “This is my third time…and starting a program over with new vigor,” Tuberville said. Tuberville was 25-20 at Mississippi as sportsbook stats showed before taking the Auburn job. “You know, I’m a salesman, and you have to have a great product to sell,” Tuberville said. “And obviously Texas Tech is a great place, got a great tradition.”

Texas finished this past season at 9-4 straight up as sportsbook results noted.  They were 7-5 against the sportsbook pointspread.  They were 4th in the country in total yards as sportsbook statistics showed but 49th in total yards allowed.
