Sportbook Betting – Tampa’s B.J. Upton Injured

December 1, 2010 Sportsbook

Sportbook betting will take a turn as Tampa Bay centerfielder B.J. Upton is likely to miss a couple of games due to a sprained ankle.

Sportsbooks probably won’t adjust the online sports betting line much but missing Upton is a huge blow to the Rays.

Sportbook betting had Upton getting hurt on Thursday in a collision with Carl Crawfod. “I don’t think it’s going to be extended,” manager Joe Maddon said.  The collision definitely doesn’t help the Rays who are trying to stay in the Wild Card chase. “I think it was just, we were both calling it — it was kind of one of those in between balls,” Upton said. “It was just something we haven’t dealt with a lot of the time. I tried to move out of the way, and just came down funny on my ankle.”

Upton is a key player for the Rays and one who they can’t afford to miss as sportbook betting indicates.  “Once it cooled off a little bit, I was able to get up and walk off myself, definitely made it feel a lot better.” Upton said.  Online betting tells us that he was replaced by Ben Zobrist while Akinori Iwamura replaced Zobrist at second. Iwamura has started in four of the six sportbook betting games since coming off the DL as the numbers at sportbooks indicate.

In other Tampa Bay sportbook betting news, it will be a huge debut on Sunday for RHP Wade Davis, the Rays’ top prospect.  He will get to pitch at home against the Tigers and could be the sportbook betting favorite.”I’m eager to get out there; I can’t wait for it,” Davis said. Davis was 10-8 with a 3.40 ERA at Triple A as sportbook betting statistics tells us.  He was very good in spring training and could be a good online sports betting wager at sportsbooks on Sunday.

The Rays are either going to sink or swim in the next few days in sportbook betting as they have a series with the Tigers followed by a series with the Yankees.  If they lose too many of those sportbook betting games they will probably be out of the Wild Card race.  The Rays are coming off a series loss in sportbook betting to the Red Sox.  It was the first home sportbook betting series loss to Boston since September of 2007 as the numbers at sportsbooks show.
