Armstrong Faces Uphill Sports Betting Battle

Lance Armstrong is the biggest story in this year’s sports betting online competition. However, after an explosive stage 15 climb that sports betting storyline seems to be losing steam, just like his chances of capturing an eighth victory at the Tour de France.

Sports betting fans and the entire community in general had hoped to see the unretired 37-year old come out and pull off the unlikely victory at the Tour in a classic underdog against the sports betting odds story. We’ve seen Armstrong do it so many times before that it’s basically old hat for sports betting online veterans. Lance’s back is against the wall and in true heroic fashion he comes back, beats the sports betting odds and claims the yellow jersey. We’ve seen it in his battle against cancer and we’ve seen it seven times before in the Tour sports betting odds.

But this year is different. Anyone who saw him finish the 15th stage in the sports betting online competition saw something that sports betting fans are not accustomed to seeing: Lance failing. Inside of 4 miles left in the stage fans saw Alberto Contador make a break for the finish and they saw Armstrong fail to chase.

It’s possible that this is some sort of elaborate strategy by Johan Bruneel to psyche out his competition, but it seems unlikely. Astana has no competition in the team sports betting and three of the top five riders in the individual sports betting are Astana riders. There seems little point of playing mind games with a sports betting competition that is already beat.

It could also be Armstrong playing head games with his closest competitor and teammate, Contador. But to anyone who saw the stage 15 climb, it looked as though an aging veteran simply didn’t have enough in the tank to compete for the sports betting online stage win. Even in the first time trial at Monte Carlo it was evident that Armstrong was just one step below the Contador and some of the other top riders on the Tour this year.

It’s never a good idea to take sports betting odds against Armstrong considering all he’s accomplished in his career. But he’s never rode in a Tour after three and half years off and at age 37, it looks like the fairy tale might finally have come to an end.
