Gambling on sports is full of surprises but the Detroit Pistons recent move to fire head coach Flip Saunders could hardly be considered a surprise to even the most casual of online gambling fans observer.
Despite a hugely successful tenure -in terms of a winning percentage- Saunders fate was sealed when his team failed to beat the Celtics in the Eastern Conference gambling match up after advancing to the conference finals for the sixth straight year. And that move is likely just the beginning of what could be a major overhaul to one of the most successful franchise in recent gambling times.
Gambling fans have seen this team achieve much, but fall short of expectations more times than not. When the team stunned the LA Lakers several years ago to win the NBA online gambling title, most gambling experts believed it was just the start of something good. But since then the team has reached the NBA Finals just one other time and flopped out in the conference gambling finals every other year. Indeed, this is a team of unfulfilled promise and GM Joe Dumars will likely clean house in order to improve his team’s gambling odds.
Simply making the gambling conference finals is not enough for this team and Dumars will shortly begin doing what many online gambling fans thought was unthinkable and shopping star players like Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton. Billups is still among the top point guards in NBA gambling but he’s proven incapable of bringing another online gambling title to Detroit and he’s not getting any younger. Dumars must act now while Billups still has some value on the open market or his team’s chances against the gambling odds will only go down. With rookie Rodney Stuckey proving capable of filling Billups shoes, the veteran is even more expendable and the gambling odds would suggest he goes.
Hamilton and Tayshuan Prince are the only other veterans of any real value and Hamilton could also be on the way if meant get younger in the NBA gambling scene. If the Pistons want to again win the NBA gambling title, it will have to get a face-lift and Dumars, better than anyone, knows this.
