There was a major surprise at the bookmaker on Saturday as Manchester City upset Manchester United 1-0 to reach the FA Cup final.
City has not been in the final for 30 years and it has been 56 years since City beat United in the FA Cup. United had their chances to win and cover vs. the soccer odds at the bookie but they failed to capitalize and City scored the only goal in the second half to win 1-0.
United Missed Chances
The match easily could have gone Manchester United’s way in soccer results at the bookie but striker Dimitar Berbatov couldn’t convert some good early chances and it came back to haunt United. Berbatov had two great chances in the 15th minute but was robbed by Hart on one and missed a great chance on a Nani cross in the other. Berbatov was banged up on the miss and was never the same and neither was united. Manager Alex Ferguson decided not to start Javier Hernandez and it turned out to be a bad decision. Wayne Rooney was suspended for this match and United had to rely upon Berbatov and he didn’t deliver. Ferguson also didn’t play Ryan Giggs and it was obvious that he was missed.
Yaya Toure Scores
The only goal of the match was scored by Manchester City’s Yaya Toure who took advantage of mistakes made by United goaltender Edwin van der SAR and Michael Carrick. Van der SAR made a poor clear and Carrick gave it away to Toure who got past Nemanja Vidic to score.
Scholes Sent Off
United lost their cool late in the match on Saturday as midfielder Paul Scholes was sent off in the 72nd minute and after the game was over midfielder Anderson got into it with City’s Mario Balotelli.
Manchester City was in the FA Cup final back in 1981 but they lost. City has not won any major title since winning the League Cup in 1976. They will be favored to win this time though at the bookmaker as they play in the final on May 14th. United is still in position to win the Premier League title as they are 7 points in front of Arsenal and United is also in the semifinals of the Champions League as they are matched up against Schalke in soccer odds at Sbg global.com.
