Bookmaker – Vikings Suffer Major Loss as Sidney Rice has Surgery

The Vikings may have Brett Favre but they suffered a major loss that could impact odds at the bookmaker since wide receiver Sidney Rice had surgery. The star receiver could be out for half of the season and his loss is huge.  He was Favre’s favorite receiver last season and although Minnesota will still be favored a lot at the online bookmaker, Rice will be missed.

Bookmaker odds at Sbg global list the Vikings as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season.  When Brett Favre returned last week it seemed all was right with the Vikings. That is no longer the case.  Rice underwent hip surgery on Monday and is going to be out for quite a while.

Big Loss:  The loss of Rice is really a big one.  Do you know what he did last season for Minnesota?  He went to the Pro Bowl after a season in which he caught 83 passes for 1,312 yards and eight TDs.  In the playoffs he was great catching 10 balls for 184 yards and four TDs.

Vikings Really Need Harvin:  Minnesota now really needs Percy Harvin to be healthy if they are to win vs. NFL odds at the online bookmaker. They can’t afford for him to be missing time.  They have to find a solution to his migraine headache troubles.  Harvin has missed most of training camp and has yet to play in a preseason game.

Javon Walker:  The Vikings were expected to sign free agent receiver Javon Walker on Tuesday.  He was a favorite receiver of Favre’s when the two were in Green Bay.  He looks like he has seen his best days though and whether he has anything left is a question.

Bernard Berrian:  The Vikings are going to need a huge year out of Bernard Berrian.  He was in and out of the Minnesota lineup last season due to injury but all reports have him at full strength this season.  Minnesota badly needs him to be a number one wide receiver again now that Rice is out with an injury.

Bookmaker odds:  The Vikings are 8.5 to 1 to win the Super Bowl this season.  The good news for Minnesota is that Rice will return but they are going to have to survive the first half of the season without him.
