Battle for NHL Betting Supremacy: Who will take the odds?

For the second time in less than a week these two teams will meet in the NHL betting competition. The New York Islanders and the New Rangers compose one of the rare intra-city rivalries that are but extinct in hockey betting these days, or any type of online betting for that matter.  But for New York hockey wagering this Civil War sports betting matchup ought to be just the thing to spice up an otherwise forgettable season of NHL odds competition.

With nothing left to play for but pride and the title of the best team in the New York Metro area the Islanders should be awfully hungry on the ice during this hockey betting matchup.  The Islanders (30-34-10) are currently in last place in the Atlantic NHL betting division and have virtually no shot of making the NHL playoff betting scene with 70 points through 74 NHL wagering games -8 point behind current #8 seed Boston.

But the Islanders would nothing more than to play spoiler to the cross-town rival Rangers (32-32-9) who for all intents and purposes are still in the think of the hockey betting playoff hunt.  With 75 points through 74 games the Rangers currently sit just three points off the pace set by Boston and with a bit of sports betting luck and few victories in the NHL betting column this team could very easily find itself in the Eastern Conference NHL playoff betting scramble.

Neither team is going to be hoisting the Stanley Cup this season and the two currently hold down the last two spots in the Atlantic Division hockey wagering standings.  Just five points separate the two teams and the GF/GA numbers are almost identical; the one exception being the Islanders slightly more porous defense which has allowed 229 goals in the 2009-2010 NHL betting action.

But if you’ve got to pick a winner in this intriguing hockey wagering matchup, take the Rangers on the road, as this team is playoff for its NHL playoff betting life and should kick it’s level of play up a notch.
