NFL Preseason Betting – Super Bowl Contenders Meet on Thursday

The Green Bay Packers host the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday in NFL preseason betting in a battle of Super Bowl contenders. The Colts are actually the favorites to win Super Bowl XLV while the Packers are a leading contender in NFL preseason odds in the NFC.

NFL preseason betting favors the Packers in this game on Thursday night. Green Bay is at home and the Colts have simply been terrible in the preseason for years.  Did you know that the Colts have a 9-22 record in the preseason since 2004?  They lost to the rotten Bills last week in preseason play.

Preseason results don’t mean much to the Colts as they have won at least 12 games in the last seven years in the regular season.Starters in Third Preseason Game:  Normally in the third preseason game the starters will play most of the game for both teams.  The game is treated as a dress rehearsal.  With the Colts that might not be the case.  Peyton Manning and the starters should go about a half but they probably won’t go as long as Green Bay’s starters do.

The Colts will be game planning for the Packers but that doesn’t mean the starters will get work into the third quarter. The Colts did get better play out of backup quarterback Curtis Painter but they still lost to the Bills.  The Packers first string was virtually flawless last week in the win over Seattle.

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense look to be in midseason form.  Rodgers threw two TDs in the first quarter last week. Green Bay rested some starters last week against Seattle but that should not be the case on Thursday.

Manning vs. Rodgers:  This matchup on Thursday features Manning against Rodgers and that should mean more points are scored.  If it was a regular season game it would be the highlight of the week.  Even in the preseason it should be pretty good with both teams playing their starters more than in any other preseason game.

High Total:  It is hard to bet the Colts and Packers to go under the NFL preseason odds at Sbg global with their two offenses but this is a high number.  The Colts and Packers have both gone over the total in their previous two preseason games which is another reason for the high number.
