NBA All Star game notes for the 2008 NBA All Star game begin by noting the game will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Why the NBA has chosen to hold the game in a city that will likely lose their NBA team soon is another story The NBA All Star has a number of other concerns to address including the starters for the game. NBA All Star starters are impressive but they are not the best players in the world.
There is no doubt that Chris Paul should be starting for the Western Conference but he is a reserve instead. Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant are the starting guards for the West. There is no arguing with Kobe but Paul should be starting instead of Iverson in the NBA All Star . The rest of the NBA All Star starters for the West are Tim Duncan and Carmelo Anthony at forwards and Yao Ming at center.
NBA All Star game starters on the East have some problems as well. There is no arguing with Kevin Garnett or LeBron James at forwards and Dwight Howard is the best center in the East. Dwyane Wade and Jason Kidd are the starting guards and neither should be. Both of Detroit’s guards, Rip Hamilton and Chauncey Billups are probably more deserving. Wade is not a bad choice for the NBA All Star when healthy, but he has not been fully healthy all season.
NBA All Star odds will likely have the Western Conference as the favorite, especially since they have Kobe Byrant leading the way. The Eastern Conference has LeBron James and Dwight Howard though, so NBA All Star Game odds should be more competitive than in the past. The NBA All Star will have a high posted total in the mid 250’s as normal. The NBA All Star will be played in New Orleans so neither conference has an advantage in terms of fans. New Orleans can’t even draw for their own team, so no home court edge will exist for either conference in NBA All Star odds.
