Mike Lowell Still Looking to Play

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

He is still under contract with Boston but he really doesn’t have a position since the Red Sox signed Adrian Beltre in the off-season.

Lowell has been a player who can impact baseball betting results in the past and he could be again if he gets a chance to play.

Baseball bet had Lowell having off-season thumb surgery that caused a trade between Boston and Texas to be called off.  Lowell said he will be ready to hit when Spring Training games begin next week. He said that he wants to play somewhere this season. "I’m highly motivated to show I can play," Lowell said, "Where that takes me, I don’t know. We’ll see."

The Red Sox are paying Lowell a lot of money this baseball bet season since he is in the final year of a three-year, $37.5 million contract.  Lowell understands that his health is an issue so he is looking at the spring games to prove to people he is ready to go. "If I was on the trading block before, I can’t imagine all of a sudden I’m not now," Lowell said. "My health is something that I obviously need to show to the Red Sox and every other team. If that opens the door to something else, I’ll go wherever I go or stay wherever I stay."

Lowell is not unhappy with Boston and he understands the situation.  General Manager Theo Epstein has said that trading Lowell is still a possibility.  It is also possible that Lowell will still be with the team in a reduced role. "If he’s really impressive and impressive to other clubs, then maybe something can be worked out," Epstein said. "If not, I’m sure there’s nowhere else Mike would prefer to take a lesser role than here."

Boston really could use Lowell’s bat in the lineup. There are some serious baseball bet question marks about Boston’s offensive lineup.  David Ortiz is no longer the player he once was and Boston lost Jason Bay to the Mets in the off-season.  Beltre is a fine defensive player but many who make a baseball bet question whether he can be an everyday third baseman and produce in the lineup. A healthy Mike Lowell could be very helpful to Boston in baseball betting results.
