Home Run Derby Odds and MLB Fans

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

Baseball, the most conservative and traditional sport in America has done very little to alter the game over the past century and a half but the Home Run Derby odds event is one of more recent and memorable attempts.

Home run derby odds are relatively new development in the world of sports betting. And it has quickly become a favorite not only for the fans of the sport, but among sports wagers who regard the home run derby betting as a very exciting event.

Home run derby odds are obviously not the most demanded lines out there, but every year around the time of the MLB All-Star game a buzz begins to grow around the Home Run Derby betting and at times it even overshadows the All Star game itself.  You can say what you want about the direction of Comissioner Bud Selig, but one thing he hasn’t screwed up is the Home Run Derby odds event.

For those sports betting fans not in the know, the Home Run Derby odds event is a power hitting contest held the day before the MLB All Star Game that pits the best sluggers of the NL against the AL in a bid to hit the most HRs.  It sounds interesting because it is, and it’s not difficult to see why the Home Run Derby betting has captured the imagination of so many sports betting fans.

Over the years we’ve seen all kinds of home run hitting feats and the legend of the Home Run Derby odds competition seems to grow with every passing year.  Sure, there are the haters and purists who decry the Home Run Derby betting as corrupting the purity of the game.  And there are also the players who decline to participate as they believe the Home Run Derby odds event will screw with their swing.  Also, the Managers who forbid their players from participating in the Home Run Derby odds action for the very same reason.

But aside from that small contingency, the sporting world seems to have embraced the Home Run Derby odds.  And that’s a bid deal for a sport that seems to be suffering one crisis after another.  It will take many more events like the Home Run Derby odds action, but it’s a good start in establishing a connection with sports fans.  The most exciting element of baseball is the long ball and no other MLB event embraces and captures this like the Home Run Derby odds do.

And in a climate where fans are often disgusted with the excess of professional baseball, the Home Run Derby odds stand out as a lone beacon of hope.
