Crawford Named MVP as American League Wins Again

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

The American League did it to the National League again on Tuesday night, winning the All-Star game 4-3 as Tampa Bay’s Carl Crawford made a game saving catch.

Crawford won the MVP award for the catch that robbed Colorado’s Brad Hawpe of a tiebreaking home run. "I don’t think I’ve ever robbed a home run before, so I picked a good time to do it tonight," Crawford said. "It’s definitely probably the best catch I ever made."

Crawford was definitely surprised to win the MVP award. "I didn’t see that coming,” Crawford said, "They totally caught me off guard. I definitely didn’t think I was going to win it. … I’m just so happy I don’t really know what to say. I just hope I can come back here many times and try to win it again."

Crawford’s catch was definitely important since it kept the game tied at 3-3 and gave the American League a chance to win in baseball betting. Sports betting statistics tells us that the next inning the American League would take the lead as Detroit’s Curtis Granderson tripled and Baltimore’s Adam Jones followed with a sacrifice fly.

The drama for the night was not over in baseball betting odds though. In the eighth inning the National League threated with runners on first and third but Minnesota’s Joe Nathan was able to strike out Ryan Howard. That was really the ball game since Mariano Rivera is nearly unhittable. He came in and set down the National League in order in the ninth to get the save. Tampa’s Ben Zobrist caught Miguel Tejada’s pop out for the final out and gamblers who made a baseball bet on the American League were rewarded yet again.

The American League stretched their unbeaten streak against the National League in baseball betting to 13. The American League now has the baseball betting edge in the World Series in October as they will have the home field advantage.

Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon is hoping that his Rays get another chance at the World Series after losing in baseball betting odds to the Phillies last year. The Rays had a team-record five players on the roster as sports betting information shows and they also had six coaches and a bullpen catcher in addition to Maddon. The Rays are considered darkhorse candidates to win the World Series this year as they are 15-1 in baseball bet odds at the sportsbook.
