Baseball Futures – Sabathia Goes for #20 on Saturday vs. Orioles

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia shoots for his 20th win of the season on Saturday and he is favored in baseball futures to get it as the Yankees take on the Baltimore Orioles.

Sabathia is very much in the mix for the American League Cy Young award so this will be a key start for him.  New York has had a lot of success in baseball betting against the Orioles this season and gamblers are likely to back them on Saturday.

This could be a close game even though it might not seem like it.  There is no question the Yankees are better than Baltimore but the Orioles have played much better under Buck Showalter and they have their best pitcher going on Saturday.

Sabathia’s Numbers – CC is 19-6 on the season with a 3.03 ERA.  He was great last time out against Tampa Bay as he allowed just two hits in eight innings. The problem was that he was up against David Price who didn’t allow anything either. Even though he has a 2.01 ERA in his last three starts, Sabathia is just 1-1 in those outings.

Sabathia Dominates Baltimore – There is one overwhelming stat in this game that simply can’t be ignored in baseball betting.  Sabathia is an amazing 13-2 in his career against Baltimore with a 2.81 ERA.  Even though the Yankees will be heavily favored, you have to like New York with Sabathia on the mound.

Baltimore’s Best Pitcher – There is no question that the ace is for Baltimore. Jeremy Guthrie is just 10-13 on the season with a 3.74 ERA but he is 7-3 in his last ten starts with a 2.38 ERA. He was great last time out against Detroit as he threw seven shutout innings.  He has simply been brilliant in his last three starts, going 3-0 with a 0.81 ERA.  The problem for Baltimore in this game is that Guthrie is 3-8 in his career against the Yankees with a 5.20 ERA.

Before this series began the Yankees had won 14 of the last 20 against Baltimore but they did lose two of three earlier this month at home vs. the Orioles.  All three of those games went under the total in baseball futures at Sbgglobal.
