Baseball Betting – Battle for First Place as San Francisco takes on San Diego on Fox

November 30th, 2010 Betting on MLB Baseball

The two top teams in the National League West get together in baseball betting on Saturday as the Padres host the Giants in a game that can be seen on Fox television.

The Padres lost 10 straight games in MLB betting to let San Francisco and Colorado back into the race but San Diego still has a chance to win the NL West and this series against the Giants is probably the most important series of the season.

This is the third game of a four-game series between the Giants and Padres.  The Padres had been very successful against the Giants before this series began and they need to continue that success on Saturday.

Pitching Matchup – The Giants are set to go with Madison Bumgarner on Saturday.  He is 5-4 with a 3.44 ERA this season.  He has not gotten a decision in his last three starts and his ERA is 4.50. He has pitched 14 1/3 innings in his career against the Padres without getting a decision.  His ERA is 2.51. The Padres are going with Tim Stauffer on Saturday.  This might be a surprise to you but Kevin Correria and Wade LeBlanc have been terrible of late.  Stauffer filled in on Monday when Matt Latos was ill and pitched very well. He allowed just one run in four innings.  Stauffer is 3-3 on the season with a 1.72 ERA. Stauffer is 2-2 in his career against the Giants with a 3.66 ERA.

Giant Losses – The Giants have struggled against the Padres this season in MLB betting.  Before this series began the Giants had lost 13 of the last 20 games against San Diego.  Before Thursday’s game, the Padres had won 9 of 11 against the Giants.  The last time they met in San Diego was back in May and the teams split.  The Padres swept a three-game series against the Giants in San Diego back in April.

Under the Total – The Giants and Padres go under the total in baseball betting more often than not when they meet.  The Padres are low scoring team anyway so it makes sense they would go under the total.  Taking the under at the Sbg sportsbook might be worth a shot on Saturday.
