The Panthers also had a narrow escape, winning at home and upsetting the New Orleans Saints, 35-27. QB Cam Newton threw 14-of-20, for 253 yards and a touchdown. He also led the Panthers in rushing, with a career-high 71 yards on 13 carries, and another touchdown. After managing only 10 rushing yards in their opener, the Panthers got 219 against the Saints.
