Poker Hand Rankings
Before you try playing online poker, a good idea would be to learn each poker hand ranking. The list below shows each poker hand rank starting from highest (Royal Flush) to lowest (High Card).
Royal Flush
![]() | A-K-Q-J-10 suited poker hands. This is the best winning poker hand you can have in poker terms. It is a straight and a flush, and the highest of both according to a poker guide. |
Straight Flush
![]() | Five consecutive cards suited in a poker card game. The straight with the highest card wins if there is more than one in a poker card game according to the rules of poker. For example: J-10-9-8-7 wins over 10-9-8-7-6 as you learn poker. |
4 of a Kind
![]() | Four equally valued cards in a poker card game. In the case of two four of a kind hands competing as you learn poker, the four of a kind with the highest ranking cards win in a poker hand ranking. |
Full House
![]() | Three equally valued cards with two a pair in poker hand rank. In the case of two three of kind hands competing, the one with the highest valued three of a kind wins in the poker card game according to poker basics. |
Flush
![]() | Five suited cards of any value in a poker hand rank. If there is a tie, the Flush hand with the highest card wins, or the next highest card if need be for winning poker hands. |
Straight
![]() | Five consecutive cards of varying suits in poker hand rankings according to official poker rules. In the case of a tie, the hand with the highest card in their sequence wins according to the poker guide and rules of poker. |
3 of Kind
![]() | Three equally valued cards in a poker hand ranking. The highest ranking cards win in a tie in poker basics. For example: Three Tens win over three Fives in poker hands. |
Two Pair
![]() | Two equally valued cards with another two equally valued cards as you learn poker. The hand with the highest pair wins in a tie as you learn poker. If the highest pairs are tied, then the next highest ranking pair wins in a poker guide. |
One Pair
![]() | Two equally valued cards in a hand rank in poker. The hand with the highest pair wins in a tie as you learn how to win at poker. If there is a tie for the highest pair, then the hand with the highest card (kicker) wins in the poker guide. |
High Card
![]() | The highest card in your poker hand when you do not have any of the above winning hands in poker. High card is the lowest scoring winning poker hand. A tie for High card results in looking to the next highest card until you have reached the point where there is no longer a tie and you find a winning poker hand. |
