San Francisco has been a team in constant rebuilding since the great days of the nineties when this team won its last Super Bowl with the likes of Steve Young and Jerry Rice making plays.  There has been a great many down football betting years between then and now, but it looks as though this team is finally on the mend and on the way up as evidenced by last football betting year’s play.  At first glance the undiscerning eye sees only the team’s 7-9 record, which isn’t much.  But when you consider that it’s just one game below .500 ball and one of the best NFL betting records the team has strung together in the past decade there is no way to deny that it is not progress for the 2006 football betting season.  This team is very young, but very talented and under the watchful eye of Coach Nolan this team is rebuilding into a very good group of players that whose success should last for quite some time and some football betting seasons.

Nolan has done a very impressive job of instilling the confidence and discipline that has made this team so great in the 1990’s football betting seasons.  In a pretty short amount of time, through excellent and thorough drafting he has rebuilt this team into a rising star that is fundamentally strong and most key positions and all the team lacks are few tools here and there and it will be on its way to NFL betting division title.  One of the first players brought in once Nolan took the reins was number one pick, QB Alex Smith.  Smith, very intelligent and capable QB has taken a few years to find his niche and learn the intricate schemes at the NFL betting level, finally got his shot at play calling full time last football betting year and by all account and purposes, did a pretty decent job for a first football betting year starter.  He completed 58% of his passes for 2890 yards, 16 TDs and 16 picks.  His 75 QB NFL betting rating won’t turn any heads but considering the targets he has to throw to, his performance during the football betting season was not that bad, especially for his first football betting year as a starter and he showed loads of potential and promise.

The receiving corps didn’t make life easy for Smith either.  This bunch of underachievers had a hard time getting open last football betting season and their leading receivers had only 733 yards.

Antonio Bryant was expected to put up big numbers, that kind that had helped make him a star but he was less than impressive with only three TDs, although he did average an impressive 18.3 yards per catch.  The number two receiver Arnaz Battle did little of anything and likely wouldn’t have even played on most teams.  His 59 catches for 686 was average and his 11.6 per catch average was pedestrian.  One bright spot for this group if only brief was the drafting of tight end stud Vernon Davis in the 2006 draft.  This guy missed most of the football betting season with injuries, but the brief moments when he played he was unstoppable.  His first catch of his career was a 38 yard TD.  You could just see that the offense operated at a different level when he was playing and Smith had much more confidence in the football betting period.

But the real story in 2006 football betting season of the 49ers was the emergence of Frank Gore.  Gore, a football betting star at U of Miami his first two years there, was written off several years ago after blowing both his knees out and losing his starting positions to Clinton Portis and Willis McGahee, whom he previously had beat out.  He was drafted as a mid round project and the team never expected much out of him.  But last football betting year he set the world on fire running for 1695 yards on an unbelievable 5.4 yards per carry average.  What makes it all the more impressive is the fact that the line he runs behind is junk and he is the focal point of every defensive scheme he sees.  But it mattered little as he found ways to make yards.

The offense and the defense were equally bad in terms of football betting stat rankings, both ranking 26th in total yards.  The lone bright spot was running the ball where, thanks to Gore, the team ranked sixth in the NFL football betting.  On defense, the team’s best NFL betting stat was a 19th ranking against the run, allowing 121 yards per game.  Brandon More stood out on the defense with 92 tackles and 6.5 sacks to go with three fumbles but it was hardly magnificent stuff.  Bryant Young had a down football betting year and the defense must improve if this team wants to compete for a playoff spot.
