2021 WNBA Championship Odds SBG Handicapping Analysis

At the beginning of any WNBA season is the fact that Seattle is the top brand. In their history, the Storm has won four WNBA championships. That includes recent offshore bookmaker titles in 2018 and 2020. Also, the Storm boasts the biggest name in the WNBA. Breanna Stewart is the woman on the Seattle marquee. Stewart is the most recognizable name in the WNBA. To be exact casual gamblers are quite familiar with Seattle and Stewart. Oddsmakers are charging overlay prices that the public continues to pound.

Namely, Las Vegas and the Connecticut Sun are the other two public teams. Connecticut lost the 2019 WNBA Finals and is one of the top teams for 2021. In comparison, Vegas is fresh on everyone’s minds from making the WNBA Finals last year.

Las Vegas Aces +200

At the onset of the season, Las Vegas was 17-6 straight up, 12-10-1 against the spread, and 15-8 over the total. Vegas was in a battle with Seattle for first place in the Western Conference. Vegas led the WNBA in scoring offense but ranked 7th for points allowed. First among Vegas scorers is forward A’ja Wilson. The 4th year veteran out of South Carolina leads Las Vegas with 19.4 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Wilson was the 2020 WNBA MVP. And she is a three-time WNBA All-Star.

Also factoring strongly for the Aces is center Liz Cambage. The Australia native is a four-time WNBA All-Star. This season Cambage averages 15.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Seattle Storm +250

In like manger to Las Vegas, the Storm was a top performer in the WNBA. Seattle was 17-7 straight up, 9-15 against the spread, and 12-12 over and under. Of great concern is the poor value with the WNBA betting odds. Seattle is the biggest brand going in the WNBA. Thus, gamblers are betting the Storm up way too high. Too many squares are flocking to the Storm without taking value into account.

Seattle forward Breanna Stewart is the biggest name in the game. Stewart is a two-time WNBA champion. And she was the MVP of the Finals in both of those title runs. Steward is a three-time WNBA All-Star and the 2018 WNBA MVP. Thus far in 2021, Stewart led the Storm with 20.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
