The 31 year old Machida is 6’1” and 205 pounds. He won the UFC betting light heavyweight crown on May 23rd with a knockout win over Rashad Evans at the 3:57 mark of round 2. Of Machida’s 15 wins, 5 have been by knockout, 2 by submission, and 8 by decision. Machida hails from Brazil and has been on the UFC betting card since 2003.

Prior to taking the title Machida defeated Thiago Silva on January 31 by knockout at the 4:59 mark of the 1st round.

Machida’s UFC challenger, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, also hails from Brazil. The 27 year old star is 6’1” and 205 pounds. Rua has a career UFC betting record of 18-3 and has won his last 2 bouts, and 6 out of his last 7 overall. Rua’s last UFC btting appearance was on April 18 when he scored a technical knockout win over Chuck Liddell at the 4:28 mark of the 1st round. Rua has scored 15 out of his 18 wins by knockout, 1 by submission, and 2 by decision. As UFC handicappers know a record such as that is one of an ultimate fighter that is highly aggressive.
