UFC Betting Lines

January 20th, 2021 UFC Betting

UFC betting lines are really easy to understand as they are based on money lines, similar to what you will see in other sports. The best example in terms of comparison could be baseball since money lines are used in that sport.  Here is a look at how to understand money lines as you bet on UFC fights.

UFC betting starts with the fighter vs. fighter option and also includes the rounds option where you bet on UFC in regards to how long the fight will go. Both of these UFC betting options are based on money lines.  When you have a fight on the board in UFC betting you will see odds for both fighters.  Let’s say that Fighter A was -170 and Fighter B was +140. You would be risking $170 to win $100 or the 17/10 equivalent in UFC betting on Fighter A.  Conversely, you would risk $100 and get $140 back plus your original wager if Fighter B was the UFC betting winner or the 10-14 equivalent.

UFC betting lines can get pretty high on fights that are considered one-sided. It is not unusual to see a favorite of -400 or -500 in UFC betting odds.  In that case you will see the takeback a little bit different.  If one fighter was listed at -400 in UFC betting, the underdog might only be +340 or so.

In addition to the main UFC betting odds on which fighter will win, you also have odds on how long the fight will last as you bet on UFC.  You might have a rounds option at 2.5 rounds.  You could bet over or under that 2.5 total as you bet on UFC action.  The under might be -150 and the over at +130.  In that case you would lay $150 to win $100 if you liked under 2.5 rounds and if you liked the under you would risk $100 and get back $130. Sometimes in UFC betting you will also see the option of how the fight will end whether it be by knockout, submission or decision. These are interesting options that are listed at odds of 2-1 up to 10-1.  They may also be even money or minus money if you have a fight that is expected to be a knockout as you bet on UFC.

Those are the main options you are likely to see at the sportsbook when you wager on UFC fights.
