UFC 117 Betting Spotlight: Dos Santos Is Next Big Thing in the Heavyweight Division

February 12th, 2021 UFC Betting

After long hiatus of being without having a superstar in the heavyweight division the UFC heads into its next Main Event (the UFC 117 betting event at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA August 7th) with a new champ and superstar holing the title.

Former WWE heavyweight champion, college wrestling champion and former Minnesota Viking, Brock Lesnar currently holds the UFC Heavyweight title and continues the long line of superstar heavyweights in the UFC odds competition.

But he may not hold the title for long as the there are several up and coming young fighters in the weight class including UFC 117 combatant junior dos Santos.  If you’re not familiar this name you probably will be after the UFC 117 odds action concludes.  At just 25 years of age he has taken the MMA betting by storm and the UFC 117 betting should be his best chance yet of showcasing his unique set of talents.

At just 25 years of age he’s already compiled a very impressive resume of UFC betting wins and has an MMA betting record of 11-1.  His only loss was back in 2007 at a non-UFC betting event in Brazil.  Since making the jump up the UFC odds action he’s a perfect 5-0 with impressive wins over the likes of Stefan Struve and Mirko Filipovic.  You might say that these opponents are hardly contender material but they’re as good as anyone else in the heavyweight division has faced and when he mops the mat with Roy Nelson in the UFC 117 odds contest he’ll have one more scalp to add to his belt.

Further, ranked #6 and #7 contender in world by MMA Rankings and Sherdog respectively, it’s just a matter of time before he gets his title shot against Lesnar and good showing in the UFC 117 betting action should get him one step closer.

Dos Santos is unique among UFC heavyweights in that he tips the scales at less than 240 whereas most of the competitors, including UFC 117 betting opponent weigh in around 265.  But he’s much more technically skilled than anyone else in the UFC betting action and that skill set should take him far.
