UFC betting fans will be eagerly anticipating the premiere of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series tonight – even though, according to FoxSports, “it was stated ahead of the (White’s promoter’s) license being approved that ‘this is not the UFC, this is not the UFC brand.'” Instead, it will be set up as a promotion for UFC wannabes to display their mad fighting skills and hopefully be signed by the promotion one day. Unfortunately, and contrary to what the name of the show might suggest, a match with Dana White is not on the line.
The first DWTNCS card – emanating from the UFC Training Centre in Las Vegas, Nevada – is expected to comprise the following matchups:
• Matt Bessette vs. Kurt Holobaugh (Featherweight)
• Greg Rebello vs. Zu Anyanwu (Heavyweight)
• Boston Salmon vs. Ricky Turcios (Bantamweight)
• Charles Byrd vs. Jamie Pickett (Middleweight)
• Manny Vazquez vs. Joby Sanchez (Bantamweight)
We don’t know about people who bet on UFC, but our money is on Boston Salmon. It is thought that he uses magnetoception to direct his punches and kicks. Additionally, like a salmon swimming upstream, he does better when the odds are stacked against him like a white-coated spirit bear. Seriously though, the show’s loose allegiance with UFC will allow it to be aired on the promotion’s internet subscription service Fight Pass while at the same time making some left turns. For example, there will be a conventional commentary team, but if UFC betting fans are in the mood for something a little more laid back (with my mind on my money and my money on my mind) they can switch to the ‘SnoopCast’ – with Snoop Dogg and retired mixed martial artist Urijah Faber.
“I’m a big fan of UFC and [am] looking forward to joining the team to bring my unique take on all the action,” Snoopzilla said. “Y’all in for a brand-new experience with Dogg on the mic.” Fo’ shizzle my nizzle. You know, they say Snoop talks a little fast, but if you listen a little faster he ain’t got to slow down for you to catch up. But whether you listen to the vanilla commentary or are hooked on ebonics, it all comes down to the talent inside the octagon.
Besette and Holobaugh are expected to main event the first show. Holobaugh was in UFC for a cup of coffee and went 0-1 while there, but has recently accrued a three-fight winning streak in Titan Fighting Championships. Meanwhile, Bessette has won seven straight fights mostly in New England-based promotion CES MMA – where he is the current CES Featherweight Champion. He has also been a regular in Bellator since 2012. Another of the more well-known fighters – and by “well known” we mean “has a Wikipedia page” – included is Joby Sanchez. Like Holobaugh, Sanchez has been featured previously in UFC; he lost to Wilson Reis and Geane Herrera and defeated Tateki Matsuda between 2014 and 2015. All things considered, this is a good chance for MLB betting aficionados to become acquainted with a few new prospects.
