Fight Night 139 Lineup Changes for UFC Betting Odds

UFC Fight Night 139 Korean Zombie vs. Rodriguez

At the beginning of the Fight Night 139 hype was a scheduled bout between Frankie Edgar and Chan Sung Jung.  In fact, this was the headline event for the UFC betting odds.  But Edgar had to pull out due to injury with Yair Rodriquez taking his place.  As a result of this and other changes new odds will eventually be posted.  To exemplify a total of five fights have had to be rescheduled for various reasons.  These multiple changes have handicappers scrambling.  All of which makes Fight Night 139 a wild card.  On the whole value assessments are challenging.

Ramos vs. Simon Cancelled

Extending the changes with the UFC betting odds was a cancelled bout between Ricardo Ramos and Ricky Simon.  Ramos had to pull out with a hand injury so Simon was removed from the card as well.  Beneil Dariush was to meet Chris Gruetzemacher in a lightweight bout.  But Gruetzemacher had to withdraw for reasons not revealed and was replaced by Thiago Moises.  A women’s strawweight match between Maycee Barber and Maia Stevenson was also adjusted.  Stevenson pulled out due to injury and was replaced by Hannah Cifers.  At last, Alonzo Menifield and Saparbek Safarov was cancelled as Safarov pulled out.

Chan Sung Jung

Chan Sung Jung is the tenth ranked featherweight in UFC.  He is one of the most versatile fighters in mixed martial arts.  Most of all he is famously known as the “Korean Zombie.”   Jung is 31 years old with a career sportsbook record of 14 wins and four losses.  Commencing with those 14 wins a total of eight have come by submission with four by knockouts.  The other two wins were by decision.

Jung’s Previous Action

Last time out on February 4, 2017 Jung scored a knockout win over Dennis Bermudez.  Jung wasted no time in posting the KO just 2:49 into the fight.  In addition, it was Jung’s first fight since his UFC featherweight championship loss to Jose Aldo on August 3, 2013.  Aldo won by technical knockout in the fourth round in a fight held in Brazil.  On the whole Jung’s loss snapped a three-bout winning streak.    Jung fights out of Seoul, South Korea.

Yair Rodriguez

Yair Rodriguez is 26 years old and is fighting out of Chicago, Illinois.  Namely Rodriguez has a career record of 10 wins and two losses.  Also known as “Chilito” and “El Pantera” he has posted three knockout, two submission, and five decision wins.  Both of his career losses were by knockout.  Since his last bout Rodriguez has had over a year to get over a defeat to Frankie Edgar.  To illuminate he suffered a technical knockout loss in the second round.  It was Rodriguez’s first loss since December, 2012.

Matchup to Watch

Rodriguez is up against tough UFC betting odds.  He has had little time to prepare as a last second fill in for the main event.  While Jung has also had to adjust his training for a new opponent he was at least ready to fight all along.
