Couture Heavily Favored vs. Toney in UFC 118 Odds

March 22nd, 2021 UFC Betting

UFC 118 odds heavily favor Randy Couture against James Toney on August 28th. Couture is -700 in UFC 118 betting against the former boxing champion.  The fight is one of 11 scheduled for UFC 118 which is being held at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, August 28th.

UFC 118 odds feature five bouts on the main card and six on the preliminary card.  The bout between Couture and Toney is a co-feature behind the main headline fight between Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn.  That fight is a rematch of UFC 112 when Edgar upset Penn.  The UFC 118 betting odds heavily favor Penn to regain his title.

The fight between Couture and Toney has big odds but it will get some action since Couture is the UFC Hall of Famer while Toney is a former boxing great.  Couture should not have any problem taking Toney to the mat and when that takes place, the fight should be over. The only chance for Toney would be to land a big blow and while that is possible, it seems unlikely. UFC president Dana White has predicted a quick victory for Couture. Toney finished his boxing career with a record of 72-6 with 44 knockouts.  He is 41 years old but that is five years younger than Couture. The bout should be interesting simply for the fact that it matches up a boxer against a UFC veteran.

Also on the main card at UFC 118 it will be what should be a great fight between Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard. Florian is a slight favorite in that bout.  Also among the bouts on the main card, it will be Demian Maia heavily favored vs. Mario Miranda while Nate Diaz is a 2-1 favorite against Marcus Davis. Maia will be fighting for the first time since losing to Anderson Silva in UFC 112.

The preliminary card has six bouts.  The first two will be shown live on Spike TV on Saturday night. Those are Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger and Nik Lentz vs. Andre Winner. The other four bouts have Greg Soto vs. Nick Osipczak, John Salter vs. Dan Miller, Mike Pierce vs. Amilcar Alves and Joe Vedepo vs. Gerald Harris.  Miller is a replacement for Phil Baroni who suffered a collarbone injury.
