Anderson Silva Highlights UFC 117 Betting

March 23rd, 2021 UFC Betting

Anderson Silva is -450 against Chael Sonnen in the feature bout in UFC 117 betting on Saturday. There are 11 bouts in UFC 117 odds on Saturday, August 7th at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California with Silva and Sonnen getting the spotlight.

UFC 117 betting odds favor Silva for good reason since he is unbeaten in his 11 UFC fights.  He has won 12 in a row overall going back to 2006. Silva has been winning in the UFC but some of his recent fights have been lackluster and the pressure is on him to deliver a big show on Saturday night.  Silva has headlined the UFC card in his last three bouts and really hasn’t been hit in any of those fights.  In UFC 112, Silva toyed with Demian Maia which really upset UFC president Dana White.  He has been severely warned that another performance like that won’t be tolerated.

Silva is ultra-talented and now he might actually be motivated to prove it. Sonnen is the number one challenger although not many believe he is in Silva’s league. He upset Nate Marquardt at UFC 109 to get this title shot.  He has said that his wrestling background will give him an advantage against Silva. The question is whether Sonnen can survive long enough to use his wrestling skills.  Silva is really under pressure to deliver a highlight reel knockout and it might come in the first round.  If Sonnen can survive the onslaught he might have a chance but most people don’t think he can.

The UFC 117 betting card also includes a battle between Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves to see which one is the top welterweight contender.  Another good bout should be junior dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson.  Also on the main card it is Rafael dos Anjos vs. Clay Guida and Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida. The preliminary card in UFC 117 odds has Phil Davis vs. Rodney Wallace, Dustin Hazelett vs. Rick Story, Tim Boetsch vs. Todd Brown, Johny Hendricks vs. Charlie Brenneman, Stefan Struve vs. Christian Morecraft and Ben Saunders vs. Dennis Hallman. The most competitive of those fights looks to be the one between Hazelett and Story as the odds on that fight are a pick while the biggest mismatch appears to be the one between Davis and Wallace with Davis a -700 favorite.
