US Open Tennis Odds Victory Would Put Federer at Top

April 5th, 2021 Tennis Betting

US Open tennis odds competition is place where history has been made many times over in the past. But this year we could witness a page in the US Open odds history that may never be duplicated again.

With multiple records (both US Open odds related and professional tennis in general) Roger Federer could achieve the title of the greatest player ever in the history of men’s tennis with a win in the US Open tennis this year. US Open tennis odds records have been accumulating since the very first US Open event was held at the Newport Casino in Rhode Island in 1881. But for all intents and proposes the modern era records are really the only ones that count when discussing the US Open tennis records, or professional records in general. In the modern era everyone is a professional and there is no ridiculously prohibitive rules regarding amateurism in the US Open tennis odds or otherwise.

This discussion of the greatest player in US Open tennis history is quite en vogue at the moment as Federer sits at the precipice of owning the greatest record in tennis history. With a win at this year’s US Open he’ll have 15 career Grand Slam titles, an all time record. He’ll also have 6 consecutive US Open tennis odds event victories, a tournament record. In the minds of many (including great Pete Sampras, the man who currently shares the Grand Slam record with Federer) a US Open odds victory would set him apart as not only greatest US Open odds player but the greatest player ever.

The only other player who you could make the case as to being better than Federer would be tennis legend Rod Laver, the 1962 and 1969 US Open tennis odds champ. Laver was the only man ever to win all four Grand Slam events in the same year. He did not once, but twice. And he likely would have done it more than once if it weren’t for the amateurism rules something that US Open tennis odds competitors needn’t worry about these days.

In terms of career it’s very difficult to say which player is better. And competition is much different now than it was in Laver’s days. If Federer wins this year’s US Open tennis tournament no doubt the contemporary media will label this one the greatest ever right there on the US tennis grounds. But with time for introspection the US Open tennis win may not be enough to push him past Laver, but it would at the very least put them on level footing.
