Tennis betting is offered on most major tournaments each month on the men’s and women’s side. Tennis betting odds are very easy to understand. When we look to bet tennis, the odds are very similar to what we see in golf or auto racing. They are listed in terms of money lines.
For example, you might have Roger Federer a -220 tennis betting favorite against Rafael Nadal. In this tennis betting example you would be laying $220 for every $100 you wanted to win on Federer or the 22/10 equivalent. The return on Nadal might be +180 or so. That means you would risk $100 and win $180 if Nadal was victorious or the 10/18 equivalent.
Another way to look at tennis betting lines is compare them to what you see in baseball or hockey. You pick one team in baseball or hockey and all you worry about is your team winning. The same thing applies in tennis betting. You have a player that is favored and the tennis betting money line reflects this fact. In addition to the tennis betting matchups that have money lines you may also find odds to win each tennis tournament. These are similar to placing a wager on a team to win an event. You might have tennis betting odds of 3-5 on Federer and odds of 100-1 or more on some unknown player to win a tournament like Wimbledon. Odds to win a tennis tournament are posted before the event begins while matchups will be posted as the tournament progresses. Oftentimes you will only see the matchups posted on the quarterfinals, semifinals and the Final.
Keep in mind as you look to bet tennis that it is different than other sports. The best players usually win. Once in a while the underdog player will win, but you are not going to make a living on underdogs as you bet tennis. You might find some spots to take the underdog but you really have to be selective. That doesn’t mean you can always take favorites, but they are the first place you want to look in tennis betting.
