Namely nobody in the history of tennis is more associated with clay courts than Rafael Nadal.  Nadal holds the all-time record of 11 French open championships.  As a result, he has the justifiable moniker of “King of Clay.”  Beyond that his success at Roland Garros makes him the French Open favorite with the Tennis betting odds.  Following Nadal are Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem as top choices for the 2019 French Open.  Bargain hunters may give Djokovic a look due to his 2016 win at Roland Garros.  Stan Wawrinka and Roger Federer may be seen as a competent longshots.

French Open at Roland Garros

First among thoughts of the French Open is its unique clay court surface.  Clay is what separates the Roland Garros venue from any other venue in the sport.  The French Open is the second “Grand Slam” event of the season.  The Australian Open begins the Grand Slams each year.  Following the French Open is Wimbledon and the US Open.  Nadal was the winner in 2018 and 2017.  Between 2005 and 2014 he won the French Open every time but for 2009.  That year Roger Federer scored the Tennis Betting Odds upset.

Djokovic Tops ATP Rankings

Although he is not as celebrated as Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal, Novak, Djokovic is in their class.  Djokovic ranks tops on the Association of Tennis Professionals.  Further, he has wins at each Grand Slam venue for his career.  This year Djokovic was the winner of the Australian Open.  In 2018 he won Wimbledon and the US Open.  For all that he is a justifiable favorite.

Nadal’s Home Court

Rafael Nadal is from Spain but Roland Garros must be considered his home court.  He may have Offshore betting wins at every Grand Slam venue but he owns the French Open.  In fact, Nadal’s only other recent Grand Slam win was at the 2017 US Open.

Dominic Thiem

Relatively new but rocketing up to fourth in the ATP rankings is Dominic Thiem.  Last time out he lost the final to Novak Djokovic at Madrid.  He defeated Roger Federer to gain that final.  Concurrently the Austrian is seen as the future of men’s tennis.  The question is if the future is now.

Roger Federer

Despite being 37 years old Roger Federer is still ranked third on the ATP charts.  Federer’s last Grand Slam win was in 2018 at the Australian Open.  Of great concern is that his last two losses were to Thiem.

Matchup to Watch

On this occasion its Nadal versus everyone else with the Tennis Betting Odds.  Such as nobody has attained such a level at success at Roldan Garros.  Of course, gamblers will pay for that success with a steep price.
