2009 Men’s Wimbledon Odds

April 26th, 2021 Tennis Betting

Wimbledon odds for the premier tennis tournament that begins on Monday, June 22nd have Roger Federer favored. Federer is about a 7-5 favorite in Wimbledon betting odds at the sports book. Here is a look at 2009 men’s Wimbledon odds.

Wimbledon odds at the sportsbook are pretty close between the first three men’s players. Federer is 7-5 while Rafael Nadal is 2-1 and Andy Murray is 3-1. It seems every year that people believe that Murray will finally be the one to upset the apple cart and win in Wimbledon odds but he still has not come through. In 2008 Wimbledon odds it was Nadal ending Federer’s five year winning streak.

Only one other player has single-digit Wimbledon odds at the sports book on the men’s side and that is Novak Djokovic who is listed at 7-1. All of the other players have double-digit Wimbledon odds and most are not given much of a chance to win this year’s premier tennis event. In reality, Wimbledon betting odds at the sportsbook are all about Federer and Nadal again in 2009.

Let’s look at the rest of the men’s Wimbledon odds beginning with some players that are at least lower than 40-1. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is listed at 14-1 in Wimbledon odds while Andy Roddick is listed at 20-1. Juan Martin Del Potro is listed at 25-1. Nadal is the top ranked player in the World tennis rankings followed by Federer, Murray, Djokovic, Del Potro, Roddick, Simon, Verdasco, Tsonga and Monfils so it is not surprising to see the odds follow the rankings for the most part.

The remaining players all have Wimbledon odds of 40-1 or more beginning with Fernando Verdasco and Robin Soderling at 40-1 each. Fernando Gonzalez is 50-1. After Gonzalez the Wimbledon betting odds really jump as all of the other players are 100-1 or more including Gael Monfils who has been ranked in the Top 10 in the world. Former champion Lleyton Hewitt is also 100-1 in Wimbledon odds. A couple other names that are recognizable are James Blake and Nikolai Davydenko and they are big longshots as well.

Men’s Wimbledon betting odds this year still have the big favorites in Federer and Nadal and the huge longshots. Recent history tells us that going with anyone other than the two favorites is a risk since Federer won five straight years while Nadal won last year.
