Wimbledon betting odds will still have both players favored, but not to the overwhelming degree of past years. Wimbledon for the 2008 Wimbledon Championships may be more competitive than in recent years as normal favorites like Roger Federer and Mari Sharapova look beatable.

Wimbledon have Roger Federer listed at about 6-5 but that is a better bargain than in previous years when he was odds-on. Wimbledon betting are the only Grand Slam tennis odds from a grass court tournament.  The grass court is at the All England Club in London, England and has favored players in Wimbledon with big serves and those players that love to serve and volley. Some players have excelled in Wimbledon odds, particularly Federer who has won the last five tournaments on the men’s side.

It is predicted by many that his run is at an end and that is why his Wimbledon betting in 2008 are at 6-5 instead of 2-5. Players throughout history have been better on grass and that has made them favored in Wimbledon . In addition to Federer there have been players like Pete Sampras and Boris Becker that excelled on grass and in Wimbledon .  Currently a player like Venus Williams is given respect in Wimbledon because of her success on the grass. Serena Williams is also given a lot of respect in Wimbledon because of her past success on grass.  In fact, the Williams sisters have won six of the last eight Wimbledon titles on the women’s side of the draw.

Wimbledon in 2008 have Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic on the men’s side. The rest of the players have double-digit Wimbledon betting odds.  On the women’s side it is wide open with Maria Sharapova the slight Wimbledon odds favorite followed by Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Ana Ivanovic. The one player that will get a lot of support in England in terms of Wimbledon odds is Andy Murray since a British player has not won the title in over 30 years.
