Yankees Trade for Javier Vazquez Sportsbook

Sportsbook odds on the New York Yankees are already pretty low and they may go a little lower after the team acquired starting pitcher Javier Vazquez from the Atlanta Braves.

The Yankees saw a weakness in their starting rotation and they are hoping that Vazquez fills it. Internet odds have the Yankees as the favorite to win the World Series again next season.Sportsbook information has the Yankees getting Vazquez from the Braves for Melky Cabrera and Mike Dunn. Last season Vazquez was excellent for the Braves and he can step right into the Yankees rotation as the third or fourth starter next sportsbook season. Also as part of the deal as sportsbook info showed, the Yankees get pitcher Boone Logan while the Braves get pitcher Arodys Vizcaino and cash.

Sportsbook stats had Vazquez going 15-10 last year for the Braves. He was second in the National League with 238 strikeouts and sixth in ERA at 2.87 as Internet statistics showed. This is not the first time the will have Vazquez on the board with the Yankees. He pitched with them in 2004 and went 14-10 as sportsbook numbers showed and he had a 4.91 ERA.

New York will go into next baseball season with a starting rotation of CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Andy Pettitte and Vazquez. Internet sportsbook numbers have the four pitchers taking up $64 million dollars of a payroll that has swelled up to over $200 million.

The Braves are getting a good center fielder in Cabrera who hit .274 with 13 homers and 68 RBIs last baseball sportsbook year. He has been a solid player for New York for many years. The Braves also free up about $9 million dollars they can use elsewhere. They may even look at New York’s Johnny Damon. Sportsbook info has them rumored to be looking at Florida’s Dan Uggla. The Braves could afford to let Vazquez go since they still have Tim Hudson, Jair Jurrjens, Derek Lowe and Tommy Hanson.

The Yankees are looking at using Logan as a left-handed specialist next sportsbook baseball season. Internet sportsbook stats indicate that he held left-handers to a .231 average. He would replace Phil Coke in the bullpen since Coke was sent to Detroit. This baseball trade was just another example the Yankees getting richer by adding salary to their already exploding payroll.
