Sportsbook odds list the New Jersey Nets as the worst team in the NBA but at least the Nets have won a game recently. The same cannot be said about the Washington Wizards who have lost 13 in a row. The sportsbook online loss tied the Washington franchise record for most losses in a row at 13.
Sportsbook NBA lines portrait the Washington Wizards as underdogs in almost every game they play. The Wizards are simply not a good basketball team. They were blown out by a bad Indiana team on Wednesday. Losing 99-82 to Indiana is really bad news. The Pacers do have something the Wizards don’t though and that is a star player. Danny Granger scored 31 points and Indiana has won four in a row. The Pacers are out of the playoff race and they would actually be better off if they would lose games since it would improve their draft position but that is not the way Granger plays. “I really don’t believe in trying not to win,” he said. “I don’t even know how you can say that about a team, tell them not to win. It goes against every principle of sportsmanship that’s out there.”
The Wizards are going to get a high draft pick because they continue to lose. They can break the franchise record for losses in a row on Friday at Charlotte. That should happen as sportsbook odds list them as a big underdog. Head coach Flip Saunders is just trying to keep the team together.
“I don’t think our guys are looking at that,” he said about the losing streak. “We’re looking at trying to be competitive and look ahead. The reason we’re getting beat right now is because other teams are better than us. We’re not very good right now.” Saunders benched Andray Blatche earlier this week but he started against Indiana and had 21 points. James Singleton had 19 points but no other player had more than 12. “Offensively, we’ve been having trouble getting into sets,” Saunders said. “The only bright spot we had tonight was James was unbelievable. We played him a lot of minutes last night, and he played well, so we’ll probably have to look to make lineup changes the next game.”
The Wizards are losing games straight up and they are also losing games against the sportsbook online odds. They are 29-39-2 against the spread this season.
