USC Basketball Sanctioned Sportsbook

Sportsbook had USC imposing sanctions on their basketball team for NCAA rules violations related to former player O.J. Mayo. The school has said that the team will not play in the postseason this sportsbook year and will forfeit all of their wins from the 2007-2008 season.  The Trojans will still be on the board at the offshore sportsbook but this news could make them a less attractive team since they have no postseason to play for.

Sportsbook had USC doing better than expected this season at 10-4. That great start might now go downhill fast with this latest sportsbook news.  The sanctions imposed go back to the 2007-2008 offshore sportsbook season and revolve around O.J. Mayo who now plays for the Memphis Grizzlies. The sanctions surround Mayo’s involvement with Rodney Guillory, who is a USC booster.  Sportsbook had Tim Floyd, who was USC’s coach at the time, quitting the team some time ago.

The sad part of this for USC as sportsbook indicates is that the current team is getting punished for mistakes made by Floyd and Mayo who are no longer with the squad.  Current head coach Kevin O’Neill has really done a nice job with USC and made them a respectable team this offshore sportsbook season. Offshore sportsbook had Floyd as an assistant coach in the NBA with the New Orleans Hornets. He has never denied his involvement in the situation and just moved on.

Sportsbook had USC players and recruits very shocked to hear about the sanctions. Sportsbook had USC head coach Kevin O’Neill telling the players the bad news. “[I] told them what the situation was and it was our expectation that they do the best job they can in the classroom and on the court moving forward,” O’Neill said. “Nothing changes in our daily lives; it’s just unfortunate that our last game is March 6th.”  USC has won eight straight games and is already 2-0 in the Pac-10 this sportsbook season.

Sportsbook info has the USC self-imposed sanctions including no postseason play this year which includes the Pac-10 conference tournament and a reduction of one scholarship for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. Sportsbook had the sanctions reducing the number of coaches permitted to recruit off-campus by one during this summer and reducing the number of recruiting days for the 2010-11 academic by twenty. “USC takes allegations of NCAA rules violations very seriously,” Athletic Direction Mike Garrett said.
