Twins Favored at Sportsbook Website Even Without Morneau

The Minnesota Twins are favored at the sportsbook website even though they are without one of their best hitters, Justin Morneau. The Twins are not even sure when Morneau will return.

He has missed 31 games with a concussion but the Twins have been winning vs. the baseball odds at the online sportsbook without him.

Sportsbook website numbers actually list the Chicago White Sox with lower odds to win the World Series but it is the Twins who look like more of a contender.  They lead the White Sox in the American League Central and it is very possible that the loser of the race won’t make the playoffs because Tampa Bay is such a strong team in the American League East and leads the Wild Card race.

The Twins have been playing very good baseball recently and that is without former MVP Morneau in the lineup.  It is possible they could get Morneau back this season but manager Ron Gardenhire is not putting any timetable on his return. It should be noted that Morneau was having an MVP season when he got hurt. He was hitting .345 with 18 home runs and 25 doubles in 81 games. The Twins are so deep though that they have been able to compensate for the absence of Morneau with Michael Cuddyer playing first base, Jason Kubel and Delmon Young in the outfield and Jim Thome as the DH.  The Twins have thrived because they have moved Cuddyer to first and Thome into the DH.  Thome has been ripping right-handed pitching all season while Cuddyer is a superb hitter.  And not to be left out of the equation is former MVP Joe Mauer.  The Twins are sixth in the league in runs per game even without Morneau in the lineup.

Minnesota will be hosting the Chicago White Sox this week in a key three-game series.  If Minnesota can win two of three or sweep the Sox they would put some distance between themselves and their only challenger in the division.  The Twins have been a very good home team this season and they will likely be favored at the online sportsbook in their games against the White Sox this week.  The Twins finish up the home stand as the host the Los Angeles Angels over the weekend.
