Twins a World Series Contender in Sportsbook Odds

Sportsbook odds list the Minnesota Twins at 15-1 to win the World Series. With the way the Twins have started the season those odds at the offshore sportsbook could start dropping.

Sportsbook costumers have seen the Twins get off to a 6-2 start.  Before Tuesday’s action, that record was tied for the best in the American League.   The Twins won their home opener at the new Target Field and concerns over the bullpen seem to have been put to rest as new closer Jon Rauch is five for five in save opportunities. The Twins have 11 home runs and that number was second best in the American League entering Tuesday’s plays.

Minnesota has a very good starting lineup and a solid pitching staff that can impact odds at the sportsbook.  With Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Michael Cuddyer and Jason Kubel, the Twins should hit a lot of home runs at Target Field. Kubel hit the first home run at the new stadium on Monday. “I told Morny and Cuddy before the game that you guys better do it right away before I get up there,” Kubel said, “I gave them a couple of at-bats. Now I’m thrilled that I did it. It’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.” Sportsbook stats indicate that Kubel hit .300 with 28 home runs and 103 RBIs last season.  He gets overlooked since the Twins have Mauer and Morneau. Cuddyer can also get overlooked even though he had 32 home runs last year. The Twins also have Jim Thome who has 565 career home runs.

The team are simply loaded and could run away with the American League Central this season in odds at the offshore sportsbook. “I think we’re great,” pitcher Carl Pavano said.  The Twins did not play on Tuesday as they had a day off.   The Twins were thought to have a weakness when closer Joe Nathan got hurt but Rauch has stepped right in. “I’ve always been confident I can do the job. I think every guy down in that bullpen is confident they can do the job,” Rauch said. “I just happen to be the one they named to do it.”

Minnesota looks to have the edge in the American League Central in sportsbook odds against the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers. The Twins have a better offense than either of those two teams and their pitching could be just as good.
