Top Conferences vs. College Football Sportsbook Odds

Top Conferences vs. College Football Sportsbook Odds. When you get ready to bet college football odds at the sportsbook you will want to know which conferences as the strongest. Last year the top conference was the SEC and they had the ultimate champion in Alabama.  The SEC is going to be good again this year but the drop to the second conference in sportsbook odds may not be very far.

Sportsbook odds favor Alabama to win another national championship.  The SEC has dominated recently with Alabama winning the national title last year while Florida won in 2006 and in 2008 and LSU in 2007.  The Crimson Tide is loaded again this season but repeating a national title is never easy despite what Florida did.  Alabama should lead the way in 2010 while Florida, LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Arkansas and South Carolina should all be good.

The Big 10 has Ohio State who is the second choice in odds at the sportsbook to win the national championship.  Terrelle Pryor is a Heisman Trophy candidate and Ohio State’s defense looks great. There are some tough games for Ohio State against Miami, Penn State, Wisconsin and Iowa but the Buckeyes could run the table. Wisconsin and Iowa could pull off the upset and make a mark on the national title race.

The Big 12 is not going to be as good as it was a year ago.  Texas and Oklahoma don’t have the star quarterbacks anymore but neither team should fall very far.  They just reload at those two schools.  Nebraska is looking good but they lose some great defensive talent.  The depth of the Big 12 doesn’t look to be as good as either the SEC or the Big 10 vs. the college football odds at the sportsbook.

The Pac-10 looks wide open with USC and Oregon leading the way, but just barely. Oregon State should be right there and Stanford has a great quarterback in Andrew Luck. Not far behind the Pac-10 this season is the ACC with Virginia Tech a national title contender. Miami and Florida State should also be good vs. the college football odds at the sportsbook.

The Mountain West has probably replaced the Big East as the conference that should get a BCS automatic bid.  The conference has TCU, BYU and Utah while the Big East has an inconsistent Pittsburgh team and a Cincinnati team that has to replace their head coach.
