Sportsbook oddsmakers in the NFL are rarely surprised. In the business of professional football there is a certain level of predictability when it comes to success against the sportsbook odds. But this year, what the Tennessee Titans are doing to opponents has thrown most offshore sportsbook bettors for a loop.
Sportsbook fans are now talking about a possible undefeated season. The Titans and ‘undefeated’ have likely never been mentioned in the same sentence before but it’s now a very real offshore sportsbook reality. Is it likely? No, but after a perfect 9-0 start, the team is more than halfway there in repeating the amazing feat of the 72 Dolphins and the 07 Patriots. But it’s fun to think about if you’re a Titans sportsbook fan.
One thing this team is all guaranteed though is a spot in the sportsbook playoff odds. The Titans have the best record in the NFL, the best record in the AFC and lead their division by a mile. The schedule will get much more difficult from here on out and the team’s first loss in the offshore sportsbook odds will likely come very soon. After playing a highly favorable sportsbook schedule up until now, the Titans will get their first true test in the coming weeks. But even than, the team will face only two above average teams in the rest of its sportsbook season.
The final two games of the season will likely be the toughest for the Titans, but by then most offshore sportsbook experts expect them to have already clinched the division and the team will most likely be resting its starters in these sportsbook match ups. So the chances of a perfect season seem unlikely, no matter what some overzealous sportsbook fans might suggest on their blogs.
But all the credit in the world should go to Coach Jeff Fischer and this team. Make no mistake this is one of the top teams in the NFL sportsbook odds and it could very well end up in the Super Bowl. The team’s defense has been exceptional, one of the top two or three in the sportsbook odds. And starting QB Kerry Collins has been a revelation. While not the most eye-catching QB in the league, he has been perfectly solid and set up the Titans running game. LenDale White and Chris Johnson have been arguably the best tandem of backs in the NFL sportsbook action and this combination of tough D and ball control offense makes the Titans a very formidable foe.
With games coming up against Detroit, Cleveland and Houston the Titans should keep racking up the sportsbook wins. But the last two games against the Steelers and Colts should give the team a small taste of what they’ll face in the post season –and they may not like it.
