Will the Weather Matter?
If there is one thing that might slow things down in terms of scoring it could be the weather. And it is not really the rain or the snow that stops the scoring but the wind and the cold. Rain is not a problem as was proven this past Monday night when the Eagles went wild. Snow is overrated as well when it comes to a factor in totals. Wind and cold weather is another story though. Wind makes it tough to throw the ball and cold weather makes it tough to catch the ball. The ball also doesn’t travel as well when it is cold which makes kicking field goals harder. Last season when the weather got cold in the latter part of the season the unders started to cash at a rate of more than 60%. Will that occur this season?
Odds makers are Slow to React
The odds makers are a stubborn bunch when it comes to adjusting to things. This is particularly true with totals. The odds makers have done a poor job on NBA totals for years. They have not done a very good job this year in NFL totals and that may continue. The odds makers simply don’t adjust very well when it comes to totals and they never have. The public doesn’t bet NFL totals a great deal which is great news for the sportsbook company because it is the only area where bettors are winning as underdogs have cashed all season on the sides and that means the sportsbook website is very happy.
