Sportsbook Website – Upstart Chiefs Need Improved Cassel

Sportsbook Website – Upstart Chiefs Need Improved Cassel. The Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the big surprises in the NFL so far as sportsbook website handicappers are now paying close attention after a 2-0 start.

What is most amazing about the Chiefs start is not only that they are 2-0 both straight up and against the spread but that they have gone unbeaten despite ranking 30th overall in the NFL for passing.

Little Bang for the Buck
Soon after taking the job as general manager of the Chiefs Scott Pioli made a deal with the team that he came from, the New England Patriots, to acquire Cassel as the new franchise quarterback of Kansas City.  The Chiefs paid a massive amount out to Cassel to lock him in as the starter for years to come but have gotten little return on their investment.  Cassel has a QB rating of just 55.8 so far this year as he has completed 52% of his passes for just 244 yards and has a 1-2 touchdown to interception ratio.  Last year Cassel’s QB rating was only 69.9 and he had a break even16-16 TD/INT ratio as the Chiefs finished 4-12 to rank as one of the least appealing teams at the Sbg global sportsbook.

No Idle Weiss
Cassel made his name in 2008 when he had to take over for the injured Tom Brady as the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots.  Cassel impressed all sportsbook company handicappers with a solid season in which he finished with an 89.4 QB rating while nearly leading the Patriots to the playoffs.  Kansas City has numerous connections to New England including with offensive coordinator Charlie Weiss, who called the plays during New England’s back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 2003-2004 before bombing out at Notre Dame.  Weiss arrived in KC and brashly said it was his job to fix the quarterback.  If Kansas City is to enjoy long-term sportsbook website success Weiss must deliver on his word.

Old School Football
Kansas City has won its first two games based on the tried and true combination of a good running game and a solid defense that ranks 8th in the NFL for points allowed.  Running back Jamaal Charles has caught the attention of sportsbook company handicappers with 6.4 yards per carry to lead the Chiefs.

Kansas City hosts winless San Francisco on Sunday.
