Tiger Woods is favored at the sportsbook website for this week’s Chevron World Challenge which begins on Thursday.
A talented field of 18 golfers will be competing in the 12th edition of the Chevron World Challenge. Jim Furyk is the defending champion but Tiger is the favorite at the sportsbook.
Woods +340
Tiger is a big favorite again at the Sbg sportsbook but that is nothing new. He has been favored in golf tournaments for the past year and has yet to win one. He is overvalued again in golf odds this week but with a field of 18 he does have a chance of winning although he should not be favored. This will be the first time that Woods has played in the event since 2007. Tiger is ranked #2 in the world and is the top ranked player in the field. Tiger has not won a tournament all year and this is his last chance. If he doesn’t win it would be the first time since he became a pro that he didn’t get a victory in a calendar year.
Furyk +900
The second choice in the betting this week is Jim Furyk who won the event last year. He won last year as he finished one shot ahead of Graeme McDowell. It was a very good year for McDowell who won the U.S. Open. He is the only Major winner from 2010 in the field. Martin Kaymer, Phil Mickelson and Louis Oosthuizen are not in the field.
Donald and McIlroy +1000
The co-third choices are Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy. Each is capable of winning although the value in this tournament may be elsewhere.
Ian Poulter +1200
The player to keep your eye on this week is Poulter. He won two weeks ago in Hong Kong and is probably playing better than anyone in the world right now.
Longshots
Nick Watney is only in the tournament because Martin Kaymer withdrew but Watney can win. Last year McDowell nearly won after getting into the field late so Watney might be worth a shot at 18-1 at the sportsbook website. Another interesting longshot is Sean O’Hair. He always seems to be in the mix to win and he is 25-1 in golf odds at the sportsbook.
