Sportsbook Site – Rivera Will Try and Turn Panthers into Winners

Another coaching change in the NFL made news on Tuesday at the sportsbook site as Carolina hired former San Diego defensive coordinator Ron Rivera as their next head coach.  Rivera will become the second Latino head coach in NFL history and is faced with the formidable task of turning around a Carolina team that was the worst in the NFL this season both straight up and against the spread at the offshore sportsbook.

Panthers went 2-14
Rivera has a tough job but he is taking over at the right time. The Panthers have nowhere to go but up after finishing 2-14 this past season. Carolina struggled mightily this season with a pathetic offense that simply could not score points.  The Panthers were a go-against team in most weeks against the NFL odds at Sbg global. Rivera is known for being a great defensive coach but now he moves up the ladder to head coach.  He is rumored to be talking to former Pittsburgh coach Dave Wannstedt to be his defensive coordinator.  The San Diego Chargers were a great defensive team under Rivera and they led the league in total defense and pass defense this season. Rivera was the defensive coordinator for Chicago from 2004-06.  Rivera becomes only the second Latino head coach in history joining Tom Flores who coached the Oakland Raiders many years ago.

Rivera Replaces Fox
The Panthers have had only three head coaches in their history and Rivera will be their fourth. He replaces John Fox who went 78-74 with the Panthers.  Gamblers at the offshore sportsbook remember that Carolina did make it to a Super Bowl under Fox but they never had two straight winning seasons and missed the playoffs the past two seasons with this past season being their worst.

First Need is a Quarterback
The Panthers most glaring need is at quarterback.  The Panthers got nothing this season out of Matt Moore or Jimmy Clausen.  Carolina has a solid running game led by Jonathan Stewart and they have a former Pro Bowl receiver in Steve Smith. If they could get a quality quarterback it is not farfetched to think Carolina could be vastly improved next season both straight up and against the NFL odd at the sportsbook website.
