Sportsbook Shocker as Brewers Sweep the Cardinals

Sportsbook bettors are wondering what in the world is going on with the St. Louis Cardinals?. The Cardinals have now lost four straight games, all at home vs. the baseball odds at the Internet sportsbook. The biggest shocker came on Wednesday when Cy Young candidate Adam Wainwright lost at home to the rotten Milwaukee Brewers.Sportsbook baseball odds had Wainwright as more than a 2-1 favorite on Wednesday and why not. He had not lost at home all season and the Cardinals were facing Milwaukee.  It goes to show you that nothing is a guarantee in sports betting.

Slumping Cardinals:  The Cardinals are in a real slump. They lost the last two games of a home series vs. the Cubs and then they get swept in a two game series at home vs. Milwaukee. The Cardinals lost 3-2 to Milwaukee on Wednesday as 17-game winner Adam Wainwright lost his first game at home this year.  The Cardinals nearly pulled it out in the ninth inning as they scored twice. Brendan Ryan hit a ball with the bases loaded that was just foul before striking out to end the game against Trevor Hoffman.

Nothing is Safe:  There is nothing safe and secure in baseball betting.  If Wainwright can lose at home vs. the Brewers then anything can happen.  Somehow the Brewers are 18-9 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis the last three years.  Wainwright gave up three runs and seven hits in seven innings. Just how good had Wainwright been recently?  He was about nearly unhittable.  He was 3-0 in his last three starts before Wednesday with a 0.39 ERA. He is now 11-1 with a 1.42 ERA in 13 home starts this season. Wainwright had been 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA against the Brewers this year.  He has still made 28 straight quality starts at home.  St. Louis has lost four straight home games but they are still 39-22 at home this year.

Things got interesting in the ninth on Wednesday as Albert Pujols hit a one-out double to knock out starter Randy Wolf. Reliever John Axford gave up and RBI double to Matt Holliday and another run scored when Prince Fielder couldn’t handle Aaron Miles’ ground ball.  Axford walked Colby Rasmus and was removed for Hoffman.
