Sportsbook Page – Woods Gets Divorce, Can Focus on Golf

One of the major stories this year on the sportsbook page has been the failure of the world’s number one golfer Tiger Woods.  This has been one of the worst seasons ever for Tiger and his family life has taken priority over his golf game.  Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren officially divorced Monday so perhaps Tiger will be more focused on golf and regain his role as a player to bet on at the offshore sportsbook.

Sportsbook page stories have focused on the troubles of Tiger Woods during the past year.  Woods was in the news because of his numerous affairs with other women.  All of the negative attention took its toll on Tiger and his golf game suffered.  Now that he is divorced it is possible that Tiger can start working on his golf game again.

Woods and his wife married in 2004 and they have two children, a three-year old daughter and a 19-month old son. The couple is expected to have some sort of joint custody although details of the divorce were not released.

High Cost for Tiger:  Although it is not known how much Elin received in the divorce settlement there is no question it is millions and millions of dollars.  The entire sex scandal mess cost Woods a lot. He lost his wife, many of his corporate sponsors and for now, his golf game.  Tiger has played poorly all year.

Tiger returned to golf at the Masters and his results against golf odds at SBG have not been good. He has not won a tournament this year even though he has been the favorite at the offshore sportsbook.

This Week:  Tiger will be playing at The Barclays this week which is the first event in the FedEx Cup playoffs.  Have the odds makers learned their lesson and not made Tiger the favorite this week?  No.  They still have him as the co-favorite along with Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy.

Tiger may end up turning things around now that his divorce is final but it is unlikely it will be this week.  Picking a winner with Tiger and Phil struggling has been tough recently and last week it was a qualifier who actually won as Arjun Atwal took the title at the Wyndham Championship.
