Sportsbook Page – Wild Weekend Shakes up the Heisman Race

Sportsbook Page – Wild Weekend Shakes up the Heisman Race.It was a wild weekend in college football and there was a major shakeup in Heisman odds at the sportsbook page. A week ago it was Terrelle Pryor who looked like the favorite with Denard Robinson in the race.  Now it appears both of those players are long shots in terms of Heisman odds at the offshore sportsbook.

Cameron Newton the New Favorite – The consensus now is that Auburn quarterback Cameron Newton is the favorite to win the Heisman.  But we seem to have a new favorite every week so that could change.   Newton was brilliant last week as he had 328 total yards and four touchdowns in a 65-43 win over Arkansas. He gets the spotlight again this week as Auburn plays LSU in the game of the week in college football.

Pryor, Mallett, Robinson and Martinez all fall – It was a bad week for Terrelle Pryor, Ryan Mallett, Denard Robinson and Taylor Martinez.  The Buckeyes, Razorbacks, Wolverines and Cornhuskers all lost and each teams’ quarterback did not play well.  Mallett is the only one with an excuse as he suffered a concussion and had to leave the game. The other three just didn’t play that well and their chances are pretty much done.

Newton a Great Value – If you can still find Newton with odds of 9-1 or so on the sportsbook page then you should jump on them.  His odds should be more like 3-1 at the offshore sportsbook.  He is going to get the spotlight because he plays in the SEC and because Auburn is unbeaten.

LaMichael James – If you don’t think that Newton will win then the player to bet on is James. He plays for the top-ranked Oregon Ducks who may not lose the rest of the season. He gets to show the nation his stuff on Thursday night as the Ducks play UCLA in a game they should win easily.  James should be right with Newton if he has a huge game on Thursday.

Long shot – Boise State’s Kellen Moore is still in the mix but the Broncos don’t play anyone and unless Newton or James totally falls apart he is not going to win it because no one will see Moore play and Boise is never in a competitive game.
