Sportsbook Page – Titans Down to a Rookie Quarterback

Sportsbook Page – Titans Down to a Rookie Quarterback. The Tennessee Titans will try and win this week and cover the football odds listed at the sportsbook page against the Houston Texans but it won’t be easy as they are starting a rookie quarterback. The Titans placed starting quarterback Vince Young on injured reserve which ends his season and they are also without backup Kerry Collins.  Tennessee is an underdog in football odds at the offshore sportsbook in their road contest at Houston.

Vince Young Saga

The Titans may have gotten a break with the injury to Vince Young. He tore the tendon in his right thumb and will need surgery so his season is over.  Had he been able to play the Titans would have faced a quandary as Young and head coach Jeff Fisher are not getting along. Fisher had already gone on record saying that Young would not be the starter any longer.  Owner Bud Adams seems to be in Young’s corner though and he may have forced the issue.  It is now irrelevant with Young out for the season. Young proved again on Sunday that he is not a quality NFL quarterback. He simply does not handle adversity well and his coach and his teammates know it. Fisher and Young had a confrontation following Sunday’s loss.  With Young’s injury the Titans won’t have to worry about what to do with the troubled quarterback until after the season is over. The only thing Young has going for him is owner Bud Adams as Fisher and many of the players are tired of dealing with Young’s attitude and poor work ethic.

Rusty Smith

The Titans are down to rookie Rusty Smith at quarterback.  He came into the game on Sunday but didn’t do much as the Titans lost in overtime 19-16 to Washington. Smith will be getting the start on Sunday at Houston with the Titans and underdog in football odds at Sbgglobal the offshore sportsbook. The Titans plan to sign former backup Chris Simms to be the #2 quarterback behind Smith.  The status of Kerry Collins is still unknown as he is dealing with a calf injury.

Key Game vs. Houston

You can probably call Sunday’s game between Tennessee and Houston an elimination game. The standings on the sportsbook page indicate that the Titans are 5-5 while the Texans are 4-6. The loser of this game is probably out of playoff contention.
