Sportsbook Page – More Empty Promises from Texans

Sportsbook Page – More Empty Promises from Texans.  The Houston Texans lost eight of their last ten games and disappointed fans who follow them at the sportsbook page but things are not likely to change next season because head coach Gary Kubiak is coming back.

The Texans did fire defensive coordinator Frank Bush but it was supposed to be a make or break season for Kubiak.  Houston finished 6-10 straight up and 6-10 against the NFL odds at the offshore sportsbook.

Defense a Disaster
Houston owner Bob McNair is giving Kubiak at least another year even though the Texans lost eight of their final ten games.  The defense was a disaster as they gave up a league-worst 4,280 yards passing. They allowed 33 touchdown passes, tied with Dallas for the most in the league.  Frank Bush got the ax on Monday along with secondary coach David Gibbs, linebackers coach Johnny Holland and assistant linebackers coach Robert Saleh. The Texans are rumored to be interested in former Dallas head coach Wade Phillips to run the defense.

More Failure in Store for Houston
The Texans were supposed to make the playoffs this season not fall backwards.  McNair is blaming the defense and injuries but the reality of the situation is that Gary Kubiak is not going to win in Houston.  The Texans do just enough to get everyone’s hopes up and then lose.  It happened again this year with a 3-1 start that made headlines at the sportsbook page.  The Texans have a quarterback in Matt Schaub who can put up big numbers but makes critical mistakes. They did come up with a running game this season as Arian Foster led the league and they have Andre Johnson at receiver but this team went 6-10 both straight up and against the odds at the offshore sportsbook.

There is simply no excuse for going 6-10 when the AFC South was as weak as it has been in years.  All over the NFL the league is filled with coaches who are better suited to a coordinator’s job.  Norv Turner is a great offensive coordinator but a poor head coach, Wade Phillips is a good defensive coordinator but a bad head coach, Brad Childress was a good offensive coordinator but a bad head coach and Gary Kubiak in Houston is a good offensive coordinator but he is a poor head coach.  But Houston hasn’t learned their lesson so it will take at least another year of failure before the Texans find success against the odds at the Sbg sportsbook.
